Rockett Studios

When I started Rockett Studios I wanted re-create the multidisciplinary team approach to designing and building the people-friendly websites that I had worked on before I started my own business. For complex web sites or special creative content needs, I have access to local award-winning photographers, artists, and a local back-end web development firm building both custom and CMS sites like WordPress. My good relationships with these professionals result in getting great work at an affordable price for my clients.

I have over ten years experience as a front-end web developer for user-researched custom designed online retailer sites and less complex non-profit organization and professional firm brochure sites. I took a hiatus from working full-time to care for our two children and earn a Masters of Arts degree in Anthropology. I enjoy working hard for my clients and surpasing their expectations. What I can do for you:

Web Design and Web Project Management I have 10 years of professional experience and as well as a certificate in digital design and web site administration from University of California Santa Barbara Extension. I have managed new web sites from the RFP (request for proposal) process, user research and design to development/testing and site launch. I have worked as part of an in-house team and as an outside consultant and on both large and small budgets.

Front-end Web Development I use the latest tools and knowledge of Creative Suites software (Photoshop, Illustrator) and can produce custom coding in HTML4/5, CSS2/3, DHTML, JS, JQuery (normally I use Dreamweaver's code and design views)

Good Web Marketing I can help your company or organization achieve its goals using my experience working for law firms, outdoor sports companies and non-profit organizations as well as my education and training in marketing and marketing research (Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Marketing from San Diego State University)

Web User Research I have have done qualitative ethnographic research and online metrics for several new commercial and non-profit web site design projects. These skills have been augumented by my graduate school education studying culture and human social behavior (Masters of Arts in Anthropology from California State University Northridge)

I use up-to-date versions of creative and coding software and test our client's sites for cross-platform (PC and Linux/Mac) compatibility and device (computer and mobile device) responsiveness. This web site (and many of our clients sites) is hosted by 100% solar-powered

Rockett Studios is a not-just-for profit business that is committed to helping make a difference in our community via pro bono work for several local non-profit organizations. Our firm's pro bono clients have included helping out the following local Ventura County non-profit organizations: Ventura Hillsides Conservancy, KIRFaid, and Orca Youth Rugby.Rockett Studios is a long-time supporter of the Jane Goodall Institute. In addition to supporting my local community, I volunteer as an applied anthropolgist for disaster relief and youth education programs for the Kirwin International Relief Foundation.

Before I started Rockett Studios in 2009, I was a web site project manager for Roots & Shoots, a youth community service program of the Jane Goodall Institute. While working for Jane Goodall as a web consultant, I also worked as the web designer/producer and HTML email designer/producer for the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy. Before that I was the lead front-end web developer and HTML email producer for Patagonia, a environmentally-friendly gear supplier in the outdoor industry. Before working at Patagonia, I worked as an inside sales and customer service representative for independent bicycle shops at Diamondback Bicycles until the company was sold in 1999. While at Diamondback I was a competitive triathlete and qualified for, and competed in, the 1994 Hawaiian Ironman World Triathlon Championships. Since having two children I have coached AYSO soccer and have been a parent leader for Roots & Shoots community service learning projects. In 2004 I ran in the Boston Marathon. I am currently running for fun and learning how to become a competitive masters rower (a humbling experience) at Lake Casitas Rowing Association.

As a college student, when I was not working part-time as a server at a Charthouse restaurent, I was working part-time and weekends at road and triathlon race events doing event marketing for Powerbar, Kashi, and other health and fitness orientated brands. My background shows that my clients get a positive, accountable, and experienced web and user research professional who is well-aquainted with the ROI needs and concerns of businesses and lean budgets of non-profit organizations. That also means that I like to work hard and go the extra mile to help my clients achieve their goals, and even exceed them.

I update this website in between client projects. For more up-to-the-same-day news, please check my twitter account at @Anthro_Mama or my blog about cultural anthropology AnthroMama's All Things Anthro
